Truly a shame that some of my fellow Americans think of the Mid East as images of deserts, turbans, mosques and terrorism. It has such historical and cultural uniqueness, as widely varied and wonderful as any other region. Personally, being able to understand the music of a place would mean being able to understand the people, and that's what we really need in our relations with Middle Eastern countries.
