Jul 13, 2008 - Duke Ellington, need I say more! This individauality, broke down, so many barriers, and negative stereotypes, of African Americans. Conducting himself, with dignity, honor, and respect, a brilliant perspective, an outstanding talent, and a touch of blissful class. A phenon, of God given talent. Mr. Duke Ellington

kutari Says:
Oct 6, 2008 - actually, not to be mean or anything. It actually isn't a hard piece at all. Very simple really. You're just listening to these great pianists that can turn such a simple melody into what you heard! :)

KROGERSGROUP Says:
Nov 1, 2008 - im not getting at anyone in any bad way..but if its so easy..how come they are able to make something so simple sound so difficult..may be by knowing what the chord progression is, people may think its so easy..but there is so much more going on inside of these turnarounds besides the major/minor scales. like the diminished..(so important) the music is beautiful... i believe that the black man is a true king. so many world contributions with little respect and recognition.someone cursed us!!
54spiritedwill54 Says:
Nov 4, 2008 - at 1:15 they all seem surprised by the bass and drums coming in..haha

Nov 14, 2008 - Ellington is my god for arranging. He was beautiful. Him and Strayhorn were amazing together. ...and his mother called him Bill is by far one of my favorite albums.

Dec 2, 2008 - Great stuff!
mmjaljs Says:
Dec 29, 2008 - In your missive are many truths, and me being a musician I truly understand. Whenever something is contrived, and made to seem like it's simple examplifies, the brilliance of the artist. In this particular case, three articulate artist. One thing I disagree about though, "Someone cursed Us" this proclamation subjectively is disagreeable. Technically, regardless of Race or Gender when your good, you can only be held down for so long. Trust me you will rise! Mr Duke ellington is proof.
tuxguys Says:
Dec 31, 2008 - This is why I haunt YouTube late at night... three piano stars... the potentiality for a train wreck is enormous and... IT DOESN'T HAPPEN. Their styles may be different, but the impeccability of their taste is uniform. And how neat to see Dr. Billy Taylor in a situation where he's "the Kid?"
unclebobunclebob Says:
Jan 2, 2009 - I remember seeing this on TV. Great trio. Only Taylor still lives. But the music of all three will live forever.
Bumblebee38 Says:
