Iwakuni8 Says:

Mar 11, 2010 - @al1970able Why, thank you, John.

al1970able Says:

Mar 11, 2010 - Iwakuni8 Karen was entering a restaurant I think in New York & on his way out came John Lennon, he noticed her, stopped & said the above comment. I couldn't put it better. She is one the great vocalists....period.

chijeii Says:

Mar 12, 2010 - She's so pretty. Her voice too. It's very hard to describe.. So.. Beautiful.

justcalljon Says:

Mar 12, 2010 - I woke up one night around 3 am and heard this on the radio..."lonliness is such a sad affair"...her brother said her magic was her lower register...no one else is even close..not even my Ann Wilson

primogennaio Says:

Mar 13, 2010 - What a beautiful song, from the days when music was a treasure.

Iwakuni8 Says:

Mar 13, 2010 - @al1970able Right. There's another interesting Lennon-Karen connection. Pre-Carpenters, around 1968, there is a recording (it's somewhere on youtube) of Karen at 18 singing Lennon's memorable lullaby, "Goodnight," with the Long Beach State U. chorale group. Sweet, and Lennon would have liked it.

frmarine Says:

Mar 13, 2010 - Its a real shame that one A-Hole music critic made the comment that she looks like she's putting on weight (getting fat-which she obviously wasn't, she was tall & lean), & thats what sent her spiraling down the dark path to anorexia, which everyone knows is what killed her. She had one of the most natural crystal clear beautiful voices ever.

itallxit2 Says:

Mar 14, 2010 - KAREN STINKS

Cokain3 Says:

Mar 15, 2010 - Simply the most beautiful voice of all time!!!! R.I.P. Karen Carpenter!!!

KrachuaChan Says:

Mar 15, 2010 - i really love Carpenters don't know why thier voice thier music or their lyrics [about this] but i love...

al1970able Says:

Mar 15, 2010 - @frmarine I applaud your comment, if I could have met the prick who said she was cherubic I would have chinned him, how can you hear a voice so beautiful & controlled & even pass comment on a such a trivial, inconsequential matter as a couple of Ibs. She was beautiful. I miss you Karen.

rayjr62 Says:

Mar 16, 2010 - It is a real shame. But if you ever saw that made-for-tv biography of her life, Karen's family difficult family dynamic would come back to haunt her.

samlatte Says:

Mar 16, 2010 - Can someone give me a good reason why the Carpenters have been passed over year after year as inductees into the rock and roll hall of fame? It just doesn't seem fair

randomyork Says:

Mar 16, 2010 - Awesome!

kevhead66 Says:

Mar 17, 2010 - i'm a rock n' roll fan for the most part, but i can't help but like this tune

beckigreen Says:

Mar 18, 2010 - samlatte, I saw a petition yesterday for the Carpenters to get in to the R&R Hall Of Fame. I can't remember the website where I saw the petition so Google it and you can sign it if you wish.

MIRRORIMAGEWORLD Says:

Mar 20, 2010 - Great song & vocal, Sonic Youth does a pretty cool cover but this stll...ah..."rocks"

lookpete Says:

Mar 20, 2010 - hello here a reson why the Carpenters have been passed over years after years to be in inductees into the rock and roll hall of fame. because true fan of the Carpenters dont say nothing to the hall of fame. if every fan of the carenters did say somthing to the hall of fame you never know what will happen. its better that saying nothing, thats only what i Think

CRAZYCRADER Says:

Mar 20, 2010 - Karen Carpenter did not die from anorexia itself, but from its effects, as said by her brother on many an occasion. Her heart could not take the strain of not eating properly and then eating a great deal. On the morning of Friday, February 4, 1983, at the age of 32, Karen suffered cardiac arrest at her parents' home in Downey and was taken to Downey Community Hospital,[45] where she was pronounced dead 20 minutes later. She was scheduled to sign her divorce papers on the day she died.

vintagevic1 Says:

Mar 20, 2010 - It was co writen by Leon Russel and Bonnie Bramlett of Delanie & Bonne. It's obviously about a fan of a rock star who is still waiting for this person who said he loved her...to come back. Most of their tunes are melancholic but of all of them i like this one particularly. These days were the golden age of pop/rock. Will those times ever return?

Iwakuni8 Says:

Mar 20, 2010 - @samlatte The usually stated reason is that their music was just not rock and roll. This is bogus because numerous others have been admitted that were not rockers. The real reason is that the Carpenters were modest, decent people with relatively conservative moral values, which offends those who control the RRHOF. By any fair standard, a duo who were the leading American group of the 70's (based on hard indisputable chart stats) should have been in long ago.

padude64 Says:

Mar 20, 2010 - I just emailed the press and demanded that the Carpenters get inducted so you to email them as well! They deserve it! The type rock and roll hall and fame and click press
