Oct 17, 2008 - so true, it took me 10 mn (first try) to recreate a total drum kit from a loop, create my own beat, put in effects and record it in audio. Ableton tutorials are great and cover all the features.. So he's a noob, he's just whining because he's stupid too... now he found that if he delete the drums the sound disapears !!! sounds like nothing can help him... hopely it seems he dont have shotgun !!!
jabba7575 Says:
Oct 17, 2008 - if you want to use an already drum pattern, you just drag it to a audio input, you dont need impulse for that ;-) and you can drag it on the session and/or the arrangement window, depend on how you work...

Nov 11, 2008 - hmmmm you don't even have to use the impulse to re-arrange/edit the beat. You can just do it in the sequencer.
miniroll32 Says:
Nov 12, 2008 - The people that are boasting about learning Ableton in "10 minutes" or calling this pointless are imbeciles. The point of this video is that the tutor has taken a 'live' recorded sound and spliced it up to it's components, to allow you to control them. He is NOT just arranging MIDI sounds in a standard sequence; that can be done in seconds.
satanbuttt Says:
Nov 14, 2008 - how do you get a beat you make into your arrangement view? i've been exporting the midi loop, closing ableton, opening it back up, and then pasting it in. i'm sure there's a simpler way than that, though...help?
jabba7575 Says:
Nov 14, 2008 - I never said you can learn Live in 10mn, I said I did exactly what is explained on this video + effects in 10 mn. And when I'm talking about drum loops, I'm talking about audio, not midi, well I should say "if you "just" want to use an already audio loop..." but, just for a laugh, if you want to use a midi loop with an already audio loop it's possible too, just rearranging the keys after what is explained here... everything's possible with Live !! ;-)
jabba7575 Says:
Nov 14, 2008 - @ satanbuttt you should have a midi clip on your session view, so you can just drag it to your arrangement view, it's done... but you can choose to record it directly too, it's well explain on the pdf.
satanbuttt Says:
Nov 16, 2008 - but how can you drag it from session to arrangement? sorry, im really a beginner..
goldenpica Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - I guess with version 7 all you have to do is use the "slice to MIDI" command.

Nov 19, 2008 - Man this is great thanks for posting, this makes my life easier. I was reading the tutorials, but this is much better!

Sep 16, 2008 - Hey, calm down man. I have been recording music for 10 years and I've recently tired using Ableton and having watched this, i realise there is a faster way of assembling the beats i'm trying to create, using none other than my own recorded loops. Videos like this are fantastic, no one should feel ashamed for using them. They are here to help, just like you had lessons for your keyboard or guitar when you were younger?
