Mar 20, 2010 - I really don't see how anyone (fan or not) could disagree with pretty much everything Tarantino says in his synopsis of the film and the character of Daniel Plainview. But I do disagree with his evaluation of Paul Dano as well as his self-evaluation describing himself as a "Brando" to Andersons "Montgomery Clift". He is a little cocky for someone who hasn't made a compelling movie since Resevoir Dogs.

Mar 24, 2010 - yo redcat..did you actually just say that..since reservoir dogs...im sorry ...but you just gave the right for the entire world to call you a fucking idiot and im going to ....your a fucking idiot...pulp fiction is a fucking masterpiece and it came out 2 years after reservoir , go do yourself a favour and read the script of true romance... get the big picture

Mar 25, 2010 - I agree 100%! Tarantino lacks heavily in the adaptability of his direction, he never makes it specific to the genre or premise he just directs in the same way every time!? and since resevoir dogs hsnt bin capable of makng a film tht can stand on its own 2 feet and not jst ride the coattails of it being a "Tarantino film"! his movies are quite monotonous - its as though he's saying: "Tarantino style baby! that all can do! so bask in my false innovation!" PTA is outstanding! TWBB is a masterpiece!

Mar 25, 2010 - Quentins talking shit - Paul dano is an outstanding young actor!!! and whilst maybe not the same caliber as DDL, in no way discredits the plot or the character Eli and his conflict with Plainview! in fact if you can find another 20 year old who is a better actor id be very shocked!., and Tarantino really needs to do himself a favour and learn the name of the main character of the film he is reviewing., "Longview"????? not quite!.,

Mar 25, 2010 - good stuff

Mar 26, 2010 - "There will be blood", I just stay quiet and went "wow" after I saw it all, last time I did that was for "Cast away"

Johnnyo743 Says:

Mar 31, 2010 - He said longview

Beale64 Says:

Apr 1, 2010 - "There Will Be Blood" can be easily viewed as a critique of George W. Bush (greedy capitalism; religion).

aaronredcat Says:

Apr 2, 2010 - @Beale64 I believe the story is based on a segment of the novel OIL! by Upton Sinclair. It is basicaly a narrative of the industrial revolution and accumilation of property and wealth that the oil rush of the early 19th century. But on another level it is a narrative of the ego and the need to impress upon others ones will and might at whatever cost including violence.

aaronredcat Says:

Apr 2, 2010 - @buknar456 I am familuar with all of his work and the chronology of his films. I never said Tarantino was terrible, that his films are terrible. I said he had not made a "compelling" film since RD. Perhaps you should "Get the Big Picture" and realize that forums are for opinions and comments - not for insulting those whom you disagree with.

aaronredcat Says:

Apr 2, 2010 - @WWAAK Totaly agree. Tarantino has become a one-trick pony and it's a shame because he has a lot of telent and skill. Unfortunately he's fallen into a pattern of making films about genre's instead of creating his own genre.

PadrethePio Says:

Apr 5, 2010 - @WWAAK Yeah, he needs to stop making fan boy movies (even though I still enjoy them), or at least make a masterpiece a decade which I'm sure he's capable of.

Pagecast Says:

Apr 6, 2010 - I think he missed the point about Paul Dano's character.

yose926 Says:

Apr 8, 2010 - Tarantino is the most influential director since he arrived in the scene. The fact that some people critize him on his movie quotes inserted on his films don“t have any basis. That“s his style and he has moved on. Resevoir Dogs to Inglorious Basterds--Big difference. PTA is my fav director but in the view of Cinema Film History Tarantino is still greater. TWBB is a masterpiece, but so was Pulp Fiction.

brickbusterful Says:

Apr 8, 2010 - QT and PTA are my favorite directors. Still can't decide. I realize that PTA has a wider spectrum of types of film and that his movies in some level are more intelligent, especially Blood. But QT made Pulp, which is my favorite movie ever made, people don't like what he's doing now a days, but I think QTs new films are great! I have a list of movies and Pulp Fiction #1, There Will Be Blood #3, Kill Bill #8, Boogie Nights # 10, Magnolia #26, and Basterds #28 PTAs new film will be the tie breaker.

Thisnameisalsotaken Says:

Apr 9, 2010 - Tarantino has to be one of the most overrated directors working today. His films are interesting and entertaining but they're ultimately vacuous in characterization and theme. He has an undeniable gift to entertain but the lack of depth in his films and his lack of unique style as a director makes for a second caliber filmmaker. He's a wannabe great. He's never made a masterpiece, but I will say Inglorious Basterds is the closest he's come. Pulp Fiction is an entertaining farce, nothing more.

yose926 Says:

Apr 10, 2010 - @Thisnameisalsotaken I only disagree with you on that QT does have a unique style as a director. A Tarantino film is very recognizable. And about Pulp Fiction. You may not like it, but it“s influence is undeniable which makes it a film that in some ways marks a cinematic period. I agree with you on the rest.

TheFantasticCorndog Says:

Apr 11, 2010 - not courage, intense, intense greed

Thisnameisalsotaken Says:

Apr 11, 2010 - @yose926 I definitely agree he has a unique style as a writer, but as a director his style and the devices he used are always strongly lifted from someone else, usually done on purpose because he loves paying homage other films. RD and Scorcese, Kill Bill and Kung-Fu Films, IB and Leone, etc. He's never found his own visual style. And PF is undeniably influential, but...who's of any merit has it really influenced? And I ask that based on its artistic worth, not its unexpected box office success.

MrPerdition Says:

Apr 12, 2010 - PTA rips off movies as much if not more then Quentin. Scorcese admits to copying. The only difference is Quentin puts himself upfront on Kimmel & Letterman & talks about it. If you respect a filmmaker, you respect them in their failures as much as their triumphs. Only mindless insensitives pricks talk about the movies they wish a director would make.

trulysarcastic Says:

Apr 17, 2010 - I think Pulp Fiction and Resvorior Dogs are masterpieces. i also think Jackie Brown was great, very underrated. But since then. QT has been medicore. PTA: Boogie nights, Magnolia and there will be blood are all amazing. Sidney/hard eight is good. As far as Paul Dano's performance, yes it's not as good as DDL, but who would of been?

NirvanaFan4Life Says:

Apr 20, 2010 - QT is right. There Will Be Blood was incredible, but Boogie Nights gets the slightest edge. 1. Boogie Nights 2. There Will Be Blood 3. Magnolia 4. Punch-Drunk Love 5. Hard Eight (really Sydney) These two should collaborate on something, if their egos would allow it. They're the best, most original filmmakers of their generation.

filmdog69 Says:

Apr 20, 2010 - @NirvanaFan4Life dude i dont know who you are to put pt andersons movies in order like that . who says some are better than the others. next time wright: this is my opinion .

FuckSka Says:

Apr 28, 2010 - @WWAAK he did, it's called Jackie Brown
